ArtMarbella ArtMarbella has become in one of the must to see cultural events summer in Spain. We could not miss this 3rd edition! So we took our towel, our trendiest glasses and our fair catalogue and we dropped by.
Our agency were represented by our agent for Spain and Spanish speaking countries, Adolfo Sánchez Flores. Adolfo do loves art, in fact he is an art historian, and enjoys visiting art fairs hunting for new tends and artists.
One the proposals he found more interesting was the one brought by Twin Gallery, an art gallery from Madrid. Jorge Carruana's (La Habana 1940 - Rome 1997) illustrations were fresh and impressive but historical at the same time because he was an artist that worked in the second half of 20th century. His artworks were pop style however included many references to Communism, eastern culture and quite sexual content. So we came to the conclusion that we usually go to the art fairs in order to find out new trends and finally we realise that the newest or most interesting things might be in reviewing the classics.
This year ArtMarbella counted on the presence of more that 40 galleries, many of the best galleries of Spain (as Joan Prats, Carles Taché, Cayón, Michel Mejuto, Max Estrella, Carreras-Múgica…) a many others from around the World, like RoFa Projects from Washington (USA). At their booth our agent met some friends, as Gabriela Rosso (RoFa Projects director) and the successful Spanish artist Santiago Picatoste ( on the right in the picture near one of his artworks form Atlas series). Together them our artist agent, Adolfo (left) and Julio Cruz, a passionate art contemporary art collector. They all enjoyed so much and shared experiences and feelings lived in this emerging contemporary art fair.
