Kazumi Komiya, also known as Walst, was born in Tokyo in 1978. As a child, she was inspired by manga artist Shigeru Mizuki to pursue art. Kazumi studied graphic design at a technical college and started her career working in advertising at a design company. She is also inspired by Japanese folklore and monsters, Joseph Cornell, vintage ads, and antique goods. Kazumi’s artwork can be described as humorous and slightly mysterious. She uses photoshop to process handmade materials and photographs. Outside of work, Kazumi enjoys cooking, making leather goods, and spending time with her three cats. View Full Bio
